The trustees will look at the following criteria when considering grant applications, but these criteria are not exclusive and compliance with the criteria does not guarantee the making of a grant which is always subject to the trustees’ discretion. The trustees reserve the right to include restrictions on the use of any grant in their absolute discretion.
- The purpose for which the grant is made (in this policy called a ‘project’) must benefit the wider Jewish Community within PenCare’s catchment area;
- The applicant must explain how any grant will be used to provide the project;
- The applicant must explain how the project will be financed, and disclose all sources of funds needed to provide the project;
- Where the applicant is an organisation, there must be a full disclosure of its financial position, and if the applicant is an individual or group of individuals the trustees reserve the right to request financial information they consider relevant;
- The project must be non-profit making, and any surplus must be utilised for the benefit of the project;
- We can fund: equipment; one-off events; small capital projects, staff costs, transport; utilities/running costs; volunteer expenses;
- We can’t fund: alcohol; contingency costs, loans, endowments or interest; political activities, profit-making/fundraising activities; recoverable VAT; statutory activities.
